The topic is illustrated by the types of nouns, that are morfologically problematic from the point of view of the general public and linguists using the database of the enquiries cunsulted with the Language Consulting Centre.
Language understanding across generations
NĚMEČKOVÁ, Lucie
The work deals with understanding the language of the older generation by young people and vice versa - how the old generation understands the present-day youth; how the old generation is versed in expressions commonly used by the young. The work is divided into a theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part at first deals with lexis in general and then briefly presents word formation and vocabulary enrichment. The following chapter discusses structures of the national language, which was also a base for the practical part as the questionnaire contained a task proving knowledge of literary expressions. The questionnaire as a whole deals with issues of standard and non-standard levels of Czech. The last chapter of the theoretical part covers the term "youth" and age limits of this social group. Special attention is then paid to features of young people's language. The practical part deals in detail with results shown in questionnaires prepared in regard to the topic of this bachelor thesis. It thoroughly compares results in each task both with the young and the old generations. Each task for the individual age categories of respondents is shown in the form of a chart. The last part of the work presents a tabular summary of success rates for each age group of respondents in particular tasks. In this work, I also decided to compare the results of my survey via questionnaires among secondary school students in a grammar school, a vocational school and a training school. The results concerning students of secondary technical and vocational schools are shown in the diagrams at the end of the practical part. There are also tables comparing the success rate in individual tasks with students of all the three types (grammar school - vocational school - training school) of secondary schools.
Language culture and incorporation of foreign words into Czech language in Právo
Kubínová, Monika ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Švelch, Jan (referee)
In this work I would like to focus on language culture and incorporation of words from foreign languages into Czech language in Právo in 1990 - 2014. In the first part of the analysis I would like to look closer on the language culture in Právo by comparing language culture in the years 1990 and 2014. This gives me overview of the language evolution. For more accurate analysis of the language culture I will go through every year of the newspaper. In the second part of the analysis I would like to focus on the incorporation of foreign words into Czech language in Právo. I will be analysing the same period as in the previous section. I selected this period on purpose because I think that after 1989 there will be more and more foreign words coming into Czech language. I also suppose that the number of incorporated words will stop rising and keep at some level after some time. I would like to focus on the number of incorporated words and what foreign languages are used for the incorporationn the most.

Bakalářská práce Pupils, Language, Communication Attitudes of secondary school pupils towards Standard and Common Czech language Lenka Josífková Abstract This thesis focuses on attitudes of secondary school pupils towards Standard and Common Czech language. The thesis is based on the sociolinguistic theory of attitudes to language in English literature and on the theory of attitudes in Czech linguistics. Key terms for this thesis are theory of language culture, its development and criticism. Those terms lead to the definitiv of the relationship between Standard and Common Czech. Part of the theoretical foundation of this thesis is description of the methods and techniques which are then used in the empirical research. The second part describes the research, which was divided into two parts: the realization of the questionnaire research and follow-up interviews with the pupils. The results of the research show that attitudes towards Standard and Common Czech language are different. Praha 2015 Vedoucí práce: prof. PhDr. Karel Šebesta, CSc.
Comparison of Czech, Russian and English simile
Krauzová, Marcela ; Rozboudová, Lenka (advisor) ; Žofková, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dedicated to similes in Czech, Russian and English languages. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the influence of culture on language and summarizes the basic knowledge of the phraseology and terminology associated with it (phraseological unit, idiom and simile). The practical part of the thesis analyses the specific similes in Czech, Russian and English languages, dividing them into categories on the basis of their meaning and according to the degree of their mutual equivalence. It presents the meaning of Czech, Russian and English simile, including examples of the use of phraseological units in Russian literature, organised into several tables. The tables also include symbols, which stand for full or partial degree of equivalence as well as for unequal similes. The aim of this work is to confirm or disprove a hypothesis set in advance regarding the degree of influence of closely related languages on the equivalence of idioms.
Language politics in the Czech public media from the point of view of a phonetician
Štěpánová, Veronika
The paper is focused on the language culture and language management in the field of the Czech public mass media (Czech Television and Czech Radio). It is indisputable that the professional speakers from these mass media play a role of so called model speakers for the users of the Czech language. The article deals with the question how the mass media monitor the quality of the oral speeches, if they co-operate with some language consulters, etc. It shows also one of the methods used for the evaluation of the oral speeches. The attention will be devoted especially on the phonetic aspect of the speeches.

Dynamism and Codification
Šipková, Milena
The author attempts a typology of the language variants. She stresses that as far as codification is concerned, apart from the langue changes of the social and territorial character especially the processes of structural character are important; within them it is necessary to distinguish especially the progressive phenomena.
